But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. 1 Thessalonians 5:8 ESV
God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
If we do not rely upon the perfection of Christ, we can easily begin to accept the lies and condemnation of Satan which will allow him to come between us and God. Sin can also open the door for the devil to enter our lives. The open door can allow the enemy into our minds, bodies, emotions, work, and relationships because they have been handed over by God to the enemy until we repent of the sin and get back into alignment with God’s grace. Are you taking your thoughts and emotions captive? Many Christians are emotionally all over the place, and part of that is a result of spiritual warfare. Satan stirs up people to criticize and condemn. Scripture calls us to control our emotions. The enemy is cunning and keen. Therefore, we must guard our hearts above all else. We must recognize daily the perfect righteousness of Christ to put on the breastplate of righteousness. Believers guard their hearts by filling their minds with Scripture. Believers guard their hearts by recognizing wrong thoughts and emotions, taking them captive, and making them obedient to Christ.
